FAQ: Foshan US Customs Broker

Answers below are drawn from our hands-on operating experience, for quick reference. For a cargo-specific assessment, please contact an advisor directly.

What is a “US customs broker”?

A US customs broker is an entity licensed by US Customs that is directly responsible for import filings. It must submit entries to CBP in its own name and is accountable for filing accuracy. A brokerage licence cannot be transferred or “borrowed” — that is the hard test of whether a provider is genuinely first-hand.

What licences does Bohao’s US brokerage Cusfree hold?

Cusfree holds US customs broker credentials covering major US ports. Verification documents are available upon request.

Why choose a Foshan-based first-hand broker rather than a sub-agent?

A first-hand broker has a clear responsible party, visible clearance progress and controllable US nodes; sub-agents carry unclear chains of responsibility and lagging information. Bohao is a first-hand, Foshan-based brokerage — Cusfree is wholly owned within the Bohao group — so issues are handled directly by the responsible team.

When must ISF (10+2) be filed, and what happens if it is late?

ISF must be filed at least 24 hours before the vessel is loaded. Incorrect or late filings can result in filing penalties, port detention and additional costs. Bohao completes document pre-review and filing before loading, with milestone reminders.

Can I still import compliantly without a US importer of record (IOR)?

Yes. Bohao provides an IOR service, helping you set up your own US importing entity together with a continuously valid Customs Bond — suitable for sellers without a US importing entity, first-time exporters and high-duty full-container shipments.

What owned resources support Bohao’s clearance-to-delivery chain?

In China we operate our own bonded trucking lines and bonded warehouse network covering the major China–US lanes; clearance is pre-reviewed by our senior advisory team. Clearance response is backed by our own warehousing and bonded trucking network.

What is the relationship between Foshan Bohao and Ningbo Bohao?

Foshan Bohao International Logistics is the South China service office established by the Bohao group in Longjiang, Shunde, Foshan. The two are separate legal entities under the same controlling owner. Ningbo Bohao is the group headquarters, founded in 2013; the Foshan office handles clearance and final-mile delivery for South China.

What does Bohao’s clearance process look like after cargo arrives?

The standard flow is: order intake → document pre-review → entry preparation and filing → customs review → release → delivery order → container pickup → delivery or warehousing. Pre-filing document review surfaces classification and compliance issues early, reducing exam and demurrage risk.
